U.S. Tariff Impact Survey

U.S. Tariff Impact Survey

In regard to the trade war between US and China became more and more intensely, we had an questionnaire and some of our cusomters left their comments below. We appreciated your reviews and hope that we could get through this together.

1. What do you think of the tariff imposed by the United States on China?

A:I am hoping the tariffs will come down on both sides very soon regardless of what industries they affect

B:It is ok for short term, but for the long term, if trade war continue, customer will move supplier chain out of China

C:I don't pay them much attention.  Government will always do annoying things and it all is cyclical.

D:Hard

E:Increase our cost and reduce market share

F:It is very bad for all parties involved.

G:We are not happy with the tariffs and we feel that there are better ways to gegotiate a trade deal than through tariffs.

H:I am against the tariffs.  Both the ones that the United States imposed and also the ones that China has imposed on the U.S.

I:They were necessary to address a trade imbalance though the certainly could have been implemented in a more effective and less confrontational manner.

2. What are your short-term and long-term tactics for tariff increase?

A:I do not currently have a tactic other than potential country sourcing but would rather not if I don't have to. I am not sure if tariffs have affected my particular imported goods but I will look it up shortly.
B:Will try to sourcing parts to other countries if price not competitive.

C:Short term and long term are both the same:  Don't worry, and just accept it doesn't make much difference.

D:Leaving China

E:Source out of China

F:Short term we bulked up on inventory, Long term is to vote the current administration out of office (1 ½ years to go)

G:Right now we are passing the additional tariffs along to our customers. We are not confident that they will let this continue however.

H:We are negotiating with Chinese vendors to share the tariff cost for the short term.  We are also having some of our orders held in China.  We are looking at factories in other countries for long term.

I:We have moved some production to Vietnam, but even after accounting for tariffs, their prices are generally higher than China's.  We will continue to look for lower cost production in countries outside of China

3. Are you able to undertake the current tariffs?

A:I hope so as I do not know the potential cost if any on this particular product
B:Yes, but just for the short term

C:Yes.  Annoying, but not debilitating.

D:No

E:barely

F:At this time yes.

G:Right now we a re withstanding them, but we fear that we will  lose business over time once our customer find alternate sources outside of china.

I:Because there are so few alternatives to Chinese production we are still operating on a cost basis that is the same as our competitor'.  As a result our competitive standing relative to them is untouched.

4. Are you interested in turning to the markets outside China, such as Taiwan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey and Eastern Europe?

A:I am open to that for sure

B:Most likely Taiwan.

C:Probably not, but price is always a concern.  For us quality is a greater concern and a small savings isn't worth any questionable reliability in quality.

D:Yes asap

E:Yes, if can find any reliable vendor out of China to avoid the tariff

F:We do business in Taiwan, India and Thailand already.

G:Right now we are trying to standby our china suppliers. We trust their quality and have built great relationships with our china partners. We hope the tariffs get removed and we can continue business as before.

H:I prefer China.  If the quality and cost is better in India or Taiwan because of the tariffs, we will buy there.

I:Yes

5. If we have sister factories outside the mainland, would you be interested in continuing purchasing from us?

A:Yes

B:yes.

C:Similar to my answer to #4.  My absolute highest concern is a very high quality very low defect rate product.  Savings in cost is great, but if I have a factory that can reliably provide quality that will always be my first choice.

D:Ab can bring millions in usa companies screaming for help.

E: If the price and quality are good, yes

F:Yes.

G:Yes, I would be interested in hearing more hearing more about this if you have sister factories in other countries.

H:I would consider sister factories outside of the mainland.

I:Highly dependent on the quality of the factories and our ability to review and control the factories and their processes.  We QC all production ourselves so production outside of China is logistically difficult
